Resumen:

La metatarsalgia representa el cuadro doloroso más frecuente dentro de la patología del antepié, y la osteotomía de Weil, una de las técnicas más comúnmente realizadas por los cirujanos. Con este trabajo de actualización queremos ayudar al cirujano a realizar un correcto diagnóstico, punto clave para la obtención del resultado deseado (si conocemos la causa del dolor metatarsal, sabremos cómo resolverlo quirúrgicamente). Recordaremos la biomecánica y fisiopatología del cuadro doloroso, que nos ayudará a entender e indicar correctamente qué tipo de osteotomía debemos realizar. Finalmente, describiremos la técnica quirúrgica conocida como osteotomía de Weil, sus modificaciones y resultados.

Abstract:

Metatarsalgia is the most frequent painful condition in the field of forefoot disease, and Weil’s osteotomy is one of the surgical procedures most frequently carried out by surgeons. With this update paper we strive to help the surgeon in establishing a correct diagnosis, which is the key to achieving the desired therapeutic results (if the cause of the metatarsal pain is known, we shall know how to surgically correct it). We shall examine the biomechanics and pathophysiology of the painful condition, as these concepts shall help in understanding and correctly indicating the type of osteotomy to be performed. Finally, we shall describe the surgical technique of the Weil osteotomy, its modifications and its results.
